But with toil and labor, we worked night and day 2 Thes 3:8 is the theme of the walkathon for Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Joseph Makala. He has started a two hundred kilometer (124 miles) charity walkathon from Ulowa in South West – Ushetu District to Meatu District. He plans to complete this in 10 days. The walk has many purposes. He wants to promote good health and raise awareness and funds for the needs of the diocese. The diocese needs are additional classrooms for the daycare center and security fencing for the Bushushu center. Another need is to purchase bicycles for deaconesses and evangelists to reach the remote areas. The number of new members is growing with the gospel outreach and new pastors are needed to minister in the new congregations. Bishop Makala’s leadership is a wonderful witness to all in the area. Members are honored and delighted to have the bishop pass their way.
The walkathon is offering a tee shirt with their logo on it and an audio CD of songs from choirs of the churches in the diocese to help raise funds. The choirs in Tanzania are known for their wonderful singing.
Along the way, he is visiting churches, baptizing and dedicating church cornerstones. It is heartwarming to see the people along the way to join him in the walk and lend their prayer support to him to show unity and love. Bishop Makala’s walk is a wonderful witness to those throughout the region.
